The STRATUS Life in Green Launch Event was hosted at Edmonton City Centre Mall from September 9th to 24th, 2022 to celebrate the launch of  STRATUS MINI ISSUE 02: Life in Green. 

The exhibition brought together a photo gallery, interactive installations, 3D animations, projections, and more. These works showcased the artists’ interactions and sensorial experiences with the natural world—one restlessly full of projects—rolling meadows, rivers, bird nests, and a variety of mushrooms. Each has its own trajectory, succession, beginning, end, and cycle.

STRATUS: VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE was an interactive online gallery event, created in response to the restrictive nature of the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual gallery is a curation of the work submitted by ten film photographers located around the world, as part of our first collaborative photo journal: "Stratus Mini 01: Summer on Pause". This is our way of celebrating the publication's launch in a socially distanced way. You are able to walk around, view the photos, listen to music, interact with other guests, and hang out in our virtual STRATUS world.

On January 2, 2020, we hosted a launch party for our first publication: "STRATUS: Japan on Film"— A collaborative photo gallery featuring work from eight local photographers who had all shot photos and videos on film in Japan over the past few years.

With a shared love for the outdoors and exploration, STRATUS has teamed up with Arc’teryx West Edmonton to bring the community together for a scavenger hunt style photo walk in our very own city, Edmonton. Our Stratus team ran an event where participants learned film camera basics (e.g., how to load & shoot a film camera), and led discussions about appreciating the natural and urban environment within Edmonton, and how photography can be instrumental in finding Outer Peace. This event’s proceeds was in support of the organization Indigenous Climate Action, who are everyday stewards of nature.

he recent pandemic brought a renewed focus on our neighbors, communities, and the spaces we live or create in. We channeled this energy into the theme of our second publication: Home. In this issue, we focused on our hometown where STRATUS started: Edmonton. In a collaborative 3-day photo gallery held in-person at CO*LAB Edmonton during the final weekend of September 2021, we asked 5 Edmonton-based photographers to convey their definition of home using film photography.

“An appreciation for green, our natural environment, and our response to its ever-changing nature”
The STRATUS Life in Green Concept Cafe features a collaborative menu made by the STRATUS team, and is our interpretation and conceptualization of this year’s publication theme “Life in Green”. The cafe was hosted at Filistix, Edmonton on Sunday July 3, 2022.

STRATUS hosted 1HR PHOTO at ANNMS Shop on Whyte Avenue on August 12th, featuring a life-scale installation, medium-format photo pop-up and limited edition t-shirt and merchandise.

CRAFT CRAFT was hosted by STRATUS on September 6, 2025 at ANNMS Shop in Edmonton, Canada. This free event invited our community, and beyond, to enjoy an afternoon of collage making, music, and conversations. The event was held in tandem with our recent PRINT*SHOP launch earlier in 2025, and gave participants the opportunity to submit their own photos to be printed as collage materials. Other materials were sourced from the City of Edmonton Reuse Centre for free.
