Film development and scanning for the everyday film community

A dedicated film development and scanning service, operating through a film drop-box system. We process using only fresh chemicals and scan in a maintained, dust-free environment. We offer high-resolution scans and are the most cost-effective film developing in the city.

Why

We strive to help our own community in filling the void for film processing in the city. After the closure of some local photo-labs we were fond of, we felt the impact of not having a trusted place to get film developed and scanned at the quality we want, for a price we could afford.

We want to make sure that everyone can continue to enjoy shooting film for as long as we can.

FAQ

⏱ Turn-around time

  • Currently we develop twice a month, on every second and fourth Sunday of the month.

For example, in the month of March 2023, the second and fourth sunday are March 12 and March 26, 2023. If you dropped your roll off on Wednesday March 8th or Saturday March 11th, we would develop and scan your film on Sunday March 12, 2023 and you should receive your scans that same evening.

  • Our cut-off time is Saturday at 11:59 PM the night before we develop on the second and fourth Sunday of every month.

For example if our developing day was Sunday March 12, 2023, you could drop off your film up to Saturday March 11, 2023 at 11:59PM for it to get developed on the same weekend.

  • Negative pick-ups are on every second or fourth sunday of every month, after the sunday your scans are sent out, between 12-5pm.

For example, if you got your scans sent to you on the second Sunday of the month, you could pick up your negatives earliest on the fourth Sunday of the month.

🥼 Developing

  • If you’ve somehow exposed your roll due to camera malfunction and your roll turns out blank, we’re currently giving a 50% refund to cover chemistry and labor costs on our end.

  • Yes we can! We’ll also add a stabilizer while developing, because older film emulsions do not come with a pre-built stabilizer.

  • Yes, we’ve gotten quite a few inquiries on ECN-2 and E6. It’s likely that we’ll launch ECN-2 closer to the end of 2023, and E6 is a possibility but there are no immediate plans for it.

  • Not at the moment, but potentially in the future!

📸 Scanning

  • We use a high quality kit from the company Negative Supply, paired with a high dynamic range camera.

  • Our baseline resolution is around 6000 x 4000 px, but may vary slightly depending on post-processing (e.g. 5550x 3300 px). You’ll find our resolution is double the typical resolution on big box store scans!

📩 Mail-in Orders

  • Yes you can! Please put your film in an envelope and send it out to

    SITE 94, 12002 94 ST NW, Edmonton, AB, T5G 1J7.

  • If you would like your negatives back, please include a pre-paid postage envelope in your order, with the return address included. We will send this out at our nearest convenience.

  • Please write “MAIL-IN” in this form field submission.
